The **Negev Brigade** was one of the brigades of the **Palmach**, which operated under the Haganah, and was active mainly in the Negev and southern Palestine during the Nakba and the occupation of Palestine in 1948. The brigade participated in several military operations, including **Operation Barak** in May and **Operation Yoav** in October 1948, and fought against Palestinian and Egyptian forces in the Gaza and Negev regions.
The brigade was also involved in the occupation and depopulation of several Palestinian villages. It participated in the attack on **Burayr** on 12–13 May 1948, and units of the brigade attacked **Kawfakha and al-Muharraqa** on the night of 27–28 May 1948, after which the inhabitants of both villages were displaced during the Nakba.
