The Oded Brigade

The Oded Brigade was a Zionist military brigade established in 1948. It was one of the brigades that operated within the Haganah and was later incorporated into the Israeli army after the establishment of Israel. It was also known as the 9th Brigade and took part in military operations during the Nakba and the occupation of Palestine in 1948, particularly in northern Palestine.

The brigade participated in Operation Hiram, carried out in Upper Galilee between 28 and 31 October 1948. During the final stage of the operation, Oded Brigade forces advanced along the Lebanese border and occupied several Palestinian villages, including Iqrit and Tarbikha on 31 October. The military occupation of a number of villages in this area was followed by the displacement of their Palestinian inhabitants.

The Oded Brigade also fought on other fronts during the 1948 war, including battles in the al-Malikiyya area and later operations on the southern front.
