Israel, in its customary manner, crossed red lines by committing a heinous crime on the morning of March 22, 2004, when it targeted Sheikh Ahmed Yassin as he exited one of the mosques in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Apache helicopters carried out the assassination of the founder of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas, " and its "spiritual" leader, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin (68 years old), along with a number of his companions. The toll was seven martyrs and fifteen wounded.
The massacre unfolded at a quarter past five in the morning when three missiles launched by Israeli helicopters turned the body of the spiritual leader of Hamas into scattered remains near his home in the Sabra neighborhood. Sheikh Yassin was returning from a mosque affiliated with the Islamic complex he had established in the late seventies, accompanied by his sons and associates, after performing the Fajr prayer (one of the prayers Muslims perform daily - early in the morning around 4 AM). His wheelchair, which he used for mobility, was strewn on both sides of the road separating his house from the nearby mosque.
