On July 31, 2001, at one forty in the afternoon, the Israeli occupation forces committed a heinous massacre in the heart of Nablus. An Israeli helicopter targeted with missiles an office affiliated with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the city center of Nablus in the West Bank. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of eight individuals, including the spokesperson of Hamas in Nablus, Sheikh Jamal Mansour, along with his colleagues and two children.
This Israeli assassination operation came a day after another operation by the occupation forces on the early morning of July 30, 2001, where tanks shelled a house near the Al-Far'a refugee camp in northeastern Nablus, leading to the assassination of six Palestinians who were members of the Fatah movement.
