A report prepared by the Palestinian Ministry of Information showed that the Israeli occupation authorities are still holding the bodies of 105 martyrs in refrigerators, in addition to 256 martyrs in the tombs of numbers, including 9 children, 3 martyrs, and 8 prisoners who spent different periods in the occupation prisons.
She then explained that the occupation takes detention as a mean to blackmail the families of the martyrs who live in anxiety, fear and anticipation for the fate of their children, and with eager hope for the latter meeting.
According to the report, Palestinian researchers confirm that some cemeteries have been uncovered in recent years, located within the territories of Palestine occupied in 1948:
The cemetery “Jesser of Banat Yacoub”, which is located in a military area at the crossroads of the borders of Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, and includes the remains of hundreds of Palestinians and Lebanese who were killed in the 1982 war and beyond and contains about 500 graves.
The tomb of “Bir Maksoor”, which is located in a closed military area between Jericho and the Jordan Valley, is surrounded by a wall with an iron gate hanging on it a large banner that reads in Hebrew “a cemetery for enemy victims”, and there are more than 100 graves.
The cemetery “Rividim” in the Jordan Valley, and the cemetery of “Shraya” in the village of Wadi Al-Hammam north of Tiberias, specifically at the foot of the mountain that witnessed the battle of Hattin.
The occupation refuses to give information about the places of detention of most of the bodies, and one of the most dangerous matters related to the martyrs of the cemeteries of numbers is what is circulated from time to time about Israel’s exploitation of the bodies of the martyrs, and the theft of their organs and their use in the treatment of Israeli patients.
Perhaps the most dangerous of them all is the establishment of the “Israeli Skin Bank” in 1985 to treat Israeli soldiers who suffered burns, after the main council of rabbis reported its legitimacy, and the “brutal bank” proved useful during the second intifada in saving the lives of many Israelis, at the expense of the skins of Palestinian martyrs.
And here is a list of martyrs whose bodies have been detained in the refrigerators of the occupation since 2016:
“Before 2016, more than 253 martyrs were still being held in the cemeteries of numbers,” most notably the body of martyr Dalal al-Maghrabi.
