The First Al-Aqsa Mosque Massacre | 1990

The First Al-Aqsa Mosque Massacre occurred at Al-Aqsa Mosque in the city of Jerusalem at exactly 10:30 on the morning of Monday, October 8, 1990, just before the noon prayer.

Jewish extremists, known as the Temple Mount Faithful, attempted to lay the cornerstone for what they called the Third Temple in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. The people of Jerusalem, in their customary manner, tried to prevent the Jewish extremists from doing so, leading to a clash between the worshipers numbering around four thousand and the Jewish extremists led by Gershon Salomon. Israeli occupation forces immediately intervened, showering the worshipers with indiscriminate gunfire.

Twenty-one people were martyred, and 150 were injured with various wounds. Additionally, 270 individuals were arrested. The movement of ambulances was hindered, and some doctors and nurses were injured while performing their duties. The evacuation of the dead and wounded only took place six hours after the start of the massacre.
