Coastal Clearing

“Coastal Clearing” was not, according to the available sources, a specific military operation with a unified command, date, and operational plan like Operation Nachshon or Operation Dekel. Rather, it is a general term used to describe a series of attacks carried out by the Haganah and other Zionist organizations to depopulate Palestinian villages along the coastal plain, particularly in the area between Jaffa and Haifa, and to secure territorial continuity between Jewish settlements.

The Zionist leadership regarded the coastal region as the core of the planned Jewish state because it included Tel Aviv, major ports and roads, and a high concentration of Jewish settlements. It therefore sought to remove Palestinian communities that could block transportation routes or separate these settlements from one another.
